File Bankruptcy Online
Currently in the UK you cannot file for your own bankruptcy online. There may be websites that have online forms but these are usually private companies that you can use to help you complete the forms. Often they will charge a fee for doing so.
Declaring yourself bankrupt, or having it forced upon you by a creditor can be a stressful time and out of desperation sometimes people make ill informed decisions.
Of course companies will want to assist with your bankruptcy and many people find that involving a third party specialist firm is helpful ad there is someone to hold your hand and steer you through the process.
However, you can file for your own bankruptcy and complete all the forms yourself. There are court fees to pay which are £175.00 and the official receivers costs of £525.00. In some cases, if for instance you are on a low income the court costs may be waived.
You will need to make the application for bankruptcy at your local court. The completed forms, statement of your financial affairs and fees need to be paid. They do not accept personal cheques or credit cards so you will need cash, a building society cheque or postal order.
At your hearing the court has a few options, they can issue a bankruptcy order making you bankrupt, adjourn the case to gather more information, reject your petition or reject your bankruptcy petition and order an alternative to bankruptcy.
